If you’re a frequent flier, you have probably heard or witnessed, or maybe even been a part of, a horror story of lost luggage. Every time you place your personal items on the stand to be checked, you know you might never see your bag again.

Here’s why it could happen to you…

Of course, the most obvious reason is that the airline just loses your luggage. It happens all the time. If the airline puts your luggage on the wrong flight or has some other mishap, having your luggage properly marked with embroidered luggage tags could help you get it back. Of course, there are no guarantees when it comes to the airlines.

Another reason you might lose your luggage is a little easier to prevent, though. As you’re probably aware, a lot of luggage looks the same and maybe you’re not so fond of the way polka dot luggage stands apart from the crowd.

I find it amazing at the number of people who travel with the basic black bag. It would be incredibly easy for someone to grab the wrong bag, especially with all those business people carrying virtually identical black Tumi luggage. That’s especially true because, a lot of the time, people are in a rush to leave the airport, so they don’t look at the bag they grab carefully until they get to their destination later.

Once someone accidentally takes your bag, it could take days, or even weeks, to get returned to you. That’s if it even is returned to you. If it’s not marked with something that can identify you, like embroidered luggage tags, it may never get back to you at all.

Of course, some people are dishonest. They might very well grab your bag by accident at the airport. Once they have it, though, they might like the items in it better than their own, so they might choose to keep it. That’s where embroidered luggage tags could come in handy. That way, nobody would accidentally take your bag in the first place.

The biggest argument against embroidered luggage tags is that, if a lot of people use them, they won’t be as unique and easy to spot anymore. Really, though, that could be true of every method of luggage tagging. The truth of the matter is, though, there are so many different types of luggage and so many different ways of tagging it that that should never become a problem.

You might be thinking that you’ve traveled a lot over the years and never had your luggage come up missing. So, why should you get embroidered luggage tags? Well, just because you’ve been lucky up to this point doesn’t mean your luck will continue. And whether you carry top of the line bags or prefer luggage discounts, no one wants to lose their things. It doesn’t hurt to be proactive in preventing your luggage from getting lost, after all.

So, what have you got to lose by using embroidered luggage tags? Certainly not your luggage!

Irrespective of the reason one decides to hire a chauffeur, the bottom line is that at the end of the day one will surely reckon that it was money and time well spent.

A chauffeur may come in handy for a variety of reasons. A good excuse would be that one is in an unfamiliar country and therefore does not know how to make one’s way around. During crucial business trips where one is expected to present some information that is critical to the success of their corporation it would be practical to stay away from the distractions involved in driving oneself or using public transportation or a taxi.

In the same breadth, chauffeured cars like those at chauffeur driven cars london will be of great assistance to individuals attending a function where making a good impression is as crucial as the event itself. Such functions would include weddings, company parties, a visit to one’s hometown or a reunion of old friends to name a few.

A chauffeur’s prime function is to drive, although there is a lot more to this profession than just having good driving skills. This profession calls for strong customer service and he or she will strive to make the client’s ride the most pleasant one they can have. Chauffeurs will be familiar with roads and directions so that they can get you, as the client, to the destination in the best possible way. Their local knowledge means that they can sometimes act as tour guides as shown by the company at london day tours.

Attaining the services of a chauffeur can be effortless. Such service providers will most definitely go to a great extent to make known their existence. Relevant information can be acquired by reading advertisements Internet or by use of stickers found in public places. Should one experience problems they can always resort to the phone directory.

Want To See Everything In Berlin?

Posted on: September 26th, 2008

The Love Parade is a festival of techno music, which started in Berlin in 1989, the objective of which is to bring together thousands of people in a peaceful manifestation in which the main protagonist is music.

As mentioned, the Love Parade was born in 1989, just a few months prior to the fall of the Berlin Wall. Its creator was Matthias Roeingh, also known as “Dr. Motte”. It was celebrated as a political manifestation in favour of Peace and world-wide understanding through music, although its original motivation could have been simply just to throw a party.

Up until 1996, the parade was celebrated in the famous Berlin avenue “Ku’ Damm”. Due to the great confluence of people, the street, along with its adjacent vias was crammed, including even the nearby train thoroughfares. For this reason, it was moved to a place with more space, the large “Straße des 17. Juni”, which crosses through “Tiergarten” park in the centre of Berlin until it reaches Brandenburg gate. Upon the peak of the ‘Victory Column’, in the centre of Tiergarten, there is a golden angel which has come to be a symbol of the event.

Many people from Germany, Poland, and other countries travel to Berlin around the middle of July to take part in the festival. About one million attended between 1997 and 2000 and 800,000 in 2001. Attendance in 2001 was markedly less due to a change of dates given not long in advance. In 2002 and 2003, there weren’t large crowds either, and in 2004 and 2005 the festival was cancelled owing to organisational problems.

It could be said that the Love Parade, along with Mayday, Nature One and other events, marked the beginning of rave culture and the era of modern techno.

The music heard here is principally house, techno and trance. There have been attempts to introduce other musical styles, such as hip-hip, but these have always failed. At the beginning of the Love Parade, Hardcore techno and Gabber were also part of the party, however lately these have been taken out, and for this reason the Fuckparade manifestation was born.

Normally the parade is noisier and more crowded than the majority of the concerts. The sound systems, refrigerated by water loaded onto all of the trucks, produces a sound with a potency of many megawatts. The party basically takes place around the trucks, which each represent big clubs and DJs. The truth is that they are very costly, but they are the best form of promotion that there is, with dancers on the upper part and loudspeakers on the sides or towards the rear.

The end of the parade doesn’t mean the party’s over: much to the contrary. Several DJ’s disc-jockey in the many parties which take place before and after the parade. There’s everything from private parties to raves, which is a thing that means many people head directly to the parties instead of going to the parade.

It mustn’t be forgotten that, in order for such a trip to come off pleasantly, it’s imperative to go well-prepared and to know how to adapt to the surroundings. Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best ways to become completely integrated into the city is living as a real city-dweller would. For this reason, renting one of the Berlino alloggio (appartamenti Berlino o hotel a Berlino) is recommended, which are located throughout the city- for every taste and in every district. And as you’ll also need to get around the city, taking one of the transportes en Berlín will make things a little easier. Unbeatable!

Berlin Is Fun

Posted on: September 25th, 2008

On 13th September 2008 the new club CIC was opened on the Marlene- Dietrich square in Berlin and brought a unique club to Berlin which has created a new genre in the city. Starting with its name CIC; three simple letters that have a lot to say. CIC is an abbreviation for “Club im Club” and is pronounced as “chic” which suggests what kind of place you can expect to find here.

The CIC is located within the “Adagio”, one of the most exclusive clubs in Berlin. Every Saturday from 10pm, the VIP-area of the Adagio turns into its own club with its own dance floor, smoking area, toilet, bar and cloak room. So everything that a club needs can be found, therefore making “Club im Club” the perfect location for a night out.

But not everyone is allowed to dance in CIC: Every Saturday the club opens its doors for about 200 invited guests. But how to get on the guest list? Quite easy: simply click on their homepage and write something on the guestbook and you’ll receive your ticket via E-Mail.
That is why the people that go there are not seen as VIPs but as MIPs (most important persons). And let’s face it, who doesn’t want to be one of them.

Something to take into consideration: if you get one of the bands that guarantees your entrance, you’ll also have access to the Adagio club which is very famous for its exclusivity.

Every party night has a different theme which you can find out about on their homepage. Each of these party nights have internationally renowned DJs that ate guaranteed to make you dance the morning in.

Due to its central location, near to the Potsdamer Platz, you can very easily go there by public transport. This way you’re safe to have a good few of those lovely drinks that they offer.

You should definitely come and see CIC club as I’m sure it will be the icing on the cake of your holiday. Take your chance and come for a dance.

If you are in Berlin, of course there is a lot more to see so it might be the best if you stay here a few days. Have a look for some accommodation (Unterkünfte Berlin) in advance and decide whether an apartment (Ferienwohnung Berlin) or a Hotels in Berlin suits your travel plans.

So come to Berlin and visit the most exclusive club the city has to offer

Travel

Posted on: September 25th, 2008

There has been an inherent thirst in human beings to look for and explore new places. Right from the cave men, traveling was looked on as a form of exploration and recreation. Travel was the mother of many inventions like wheels, cart etc. If a particular tribe liked a specific place then they fought with the existing tribe for the ownership of it and then go on to settle on it making it cultivation land. Though for some traveling stopped with finding a suitable place to settle, others continued to move on.

It was because of the travel lust that many new places were discovered. People looked for new places not just to occupy it but also to establish a trade with the people living in these territories. Hence in the old ages, India was known as a good place for trading of exotic items like spices, silk, etc.

Travel has also been a basis of many fictions. One of the most popular one in the Old English Period is Chaucer’s “Canterbury Tales” where a group of people of diverse personalities go on a pilgrimage and in the process share stories with each other. Now in this modern age there are various travel magazines and paperbacks available from which a person can get information about a particular place. And the onset of internet has made looking for a particular place quite easy and fun.

There are many reasons for a person to travel. They range from tourism to trade, from commuting to visiting friends or family members. And a new bunch of globe trotters has made the whole world their playground. They change their jobs so frequently and join new places so easily that they are comfortable and familiar in all places.

Now with the onset of many modern vehicles like airplanes, trains, buses, motor cars, ships, etc, traveling has taken on an added appeal. No place is inaccessible for this modern day traveler. They have uncovered many isolated and unknown beauties. With many facilities at their fingertips, climbing Mount Everest is also no big deal. In fact the tougher the challenge, the more pleasure it gives them. And they look for new and harsher terrains for adventure and also to test their mettles.

At present the tourism industry is experiencing and enjoying a new boom and because of this they are throwing out new offers and discounts in a bid to compete against each other. There have been a new surge of low budget aircrafts, and many airlines and top rated hotels are offering discount packages if you book thould be good to refer a Travel Guide and pay to plan it well in advance. You can take the help of the internet to find the Best Travel Destinations and all about that place and also to browse on different Cheap Travel Destinations and offers that are available. Also make sure to inquire about all the activities that are on offer and about other attractions such as food, local handicrafts, etc. so that you get the full benefits out of your travel.

Head To Alaska The Last Great Outdoor Bastions

Posted on: September 22nd, 2008

There are literally hundreds of Alaskan tours to choose from! Whether you’re bringing young children to show them wildlife, nature and a part of history, or taking a romantic and adventurous honeymoon adventure, there is something in Alaska for you. When most people think of cruises, the Bahamas or Hawaii comes to mind, but you can find fantastic seven-night expeditions in peak summer months for as low as $699 (primarily because most people head to Europe during the warmer months). Be sure to save enough money for your adventure to the 49th Us state, as there is no limit to what you can do on this once-in-a-lifetime trip.

In Juneau, a classic Alaskan tour is the “Four Glaciers By Helicopter & Dog Sled Adventure.” On this once-in-a-lifetime expedition for lovers of the great outdoors, you’ll soar over four real glaciers, which are the Taku, the Hole-in-the-Wall, Dead Branch and East Twin, while catching a bird’s eye view of moose, goats, bears and caribou. Then you will land on Norris Glacier where you’ll meet up with your Alaskan malamute and Alaskan husky dogsled team. Your guide will describe the 1,000-mile Iditarod Race that traverses from Anchorage to Nome. Your trip will include some hiking through crevasses and navigating streams for two hours of ethereal zen. This journey is for the fearless, the cold-insensitive, the adventurous and the athletic. If you are skier you will find plenty of ski slopes in Alaska.

Do you love the water but find the Alaskan cruise thing too far removed? Hoping for a relaxing and unique wildlife-viewing experience? In Haines, Alaska, you might find the “Wildlife River Adventure” more your speed. First, you’ll take a bus through this quaint one-horse town, then you’ll visit the world-renowned Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve. You’ll jet-boat through the narrow glacial channels of the Chilkat River, delving deep into the Alaska wilderness with eagle-nested trees and the playful sea otter’s mud-and-snow-hut dens. The expedition finishes up with hot cocoa around a campfire or inside the heated pavilion.

As one of the later states to join the union, Alaska is a wealthy land of natural beauty, profitable oil and a plethora of wildlife. After summer solstice on June 21st, the days are long, with Ketchikan, Anchorage, Fairbanks and Barrow receiving 19.5 - 24 hours of sunlight per day. Summer temperatures are around 60 - 70 on the Inland Passage, where most cruise ships stay. You can find a seven-night Alaskan cruise for as low as $699, so what are you waiting for?

I Love Bracelona

Posted on: September 22nd, 2008

If you’re looking for excitement, then Barcelona’s the place to be; culture, art, beaches, history and amazing nightlife all rolls into one. If you’re looking for a night out that’s truly Spanish while avoiding all bull fighting, flamenco dancing, castanet clicking kind of places, then Espit Chupitos is the place to go.

Slightly hidden away from the main tourist areas, Espit Chupitos is mainly hogged by well informed Erasmus students, locals and a few tourists. Nevertheless, the bar is always packed to the brim with people often being turned away after a certain hour for the bar being too full. In its prime on Saturday nights, it’s advisable to arrive before 12pm to make sure you get in, and more importantly, to make sure you get a place at the bar.

But what makes this bar so special I hear you ask? Well, where to begin? The bar is quite tiny and there’s only room for around 20 people to sit down (and that’s being optimistic) and neither is there much room to stand up; this makes it a bit of a battle to get to the bar, but once you do get there you’ll stay there all night. Espit Chupitos is a shots bar that specialises in hundreds of different shots; there’s a blackboard covering most of the wall, with the names of the ridiculous number of shots you can get. None of these names however have any description, so the only way to find out what you like (and very probably what you don’t like) is to pick a name and try it.

The shots cover all tastes and types and believe me, you need to go prepared to get quite drunk, quite shocked and if you’re not careful, burnt eyebrows. You can get the normal shots like tequila and sambucca, though even these have a twist; a sambucca shot usually includes your thumb being dunked in the shot then set alight for you to suck it, followed by the shot. The bar often gets set alight with shots like ‘Harry Potter’ and various other pyrotechnic mad creations. If you’re looking for something a little calmer, then I advise ordering the shot that has cream on top (to be downed with no hands) or the ‘crème de la crème’, which is just like drinking a mini, alcoholic milkshake.

If you’re slightly scared by this mad bar, there’s no need as you can order a normal beer or dare I say it, a coke. Either way, the bar is worth a visit if only to see the pyrotechnic displays (the bar gets set alight every 5 minutes or so). The usual thing to do is to get to the bar, order your shot and stay where you are until you’re ready for the next one; if you move, it’s highly probable you won’t make it to the bar again for the crowds of people.

Make sure to book your accommodation Barcelona well in advance as apartment Barcelona get booked up quickly and hotels Barcelona are expensive.

Shark Cage Diving In South Africa

Posted on: September 22nd, 2008

Dear Shark Lovers,

Historically June is one of our two best months for the sharks at Seal Island. We usually see high numbers of sharks around the boat as well as natural predations and breaches on the decoy.

BAD WEATHER

In 2007 we were hit by atrocious weather and big swells and as a result sightings were way down.

This June has seen even worse weather than last year and we have had to cancel just under half of our trips during June. This bad weather was been due to low pressure systems that are generated in the deep south Atlantic.

We were lucky in the sense that this June on the whole we were not too badly affected by big swell and as such when we were able to get to sea the shark activity on most trips has been very good.

Bad weather can of course provide spectacular scenes. We spent almost an entire day at Kalk Bay Harbour earlier in the month watching a large ground swell backed by very high winds lash this traditional fishing harbour. The power of these waves was just astounding and would send water and spray 30 meters high into the air.

SHARK SIGHTINGS AROUND THE BOAT

We have had high numbers of sharks around the boat but it has been interesting to see that there have not been a huge amount of different sharks coming in and out of the Seal Island area. Usually we will see the same sharks for a couple and days which will then in turn be replaced by a new batch of sharks. This month we have seen the same sharks stay around for longer periods of time and as mentioned there has not been the usual high turnover of sharks.

The visibility has varied from a very good 15 meters to an extremely poor 2 meter pea soup! When the visibility has been good we have made the most of the diving. On one particularly good weather and visibility day just Chris & I and our crew headed out after the morning trip to enjoy the sharks in the afternoon. The weather was perfectly flat calm and the sharks were fantastic.

AMBER

One of the sharks that were sighted for the first time this season was a 3.3 meter female that we have been seeing for 2 seasons previously. She has a distinct marking just below her left pelvic fin which makes her easily recognizable. She is great to have around the boat as she normally approached the decoy or the bait vertically from below, giving us all a rare sight of the white belly of a great white shark.

We have seen her on many trips this month and on one of the trips we had a mother and daughter make a very special trip to South Africa from The States for a once in a lifetime trip to see a great white shark. This particular shark made quite an impression of them and so we named her “Amber” (the daughter’s name!). It is a lovely name for a beautiful shark.

Some people may think it is a bit strange that we give the sharks that we know well names. From our point of view it helps greatly with data points and in getting to know the actual animal. I also feel that it is interesting for our guests to know the history behind a particular shark and really helps to put across the point that these sharks do all indeed have personalities of their own. Shark Cage Diving

We did also have another good sighting of “Schumi” around the boat at the beginning of the month and so far we have seen her in April, May and June.

AN UNUSUAL SHARK!

We have also come across an entirely new shark that we have never seen before. This is surprising as she is fairly large at just under 4 meters and has really stuck around for about 2 weeks now.

In my 9 years at Seal Island and Chris’s entire history of working with great white sharks we have never come across a shark quite like this one. We have aptly named her “Cruella” (Cruella Deville from 1001 Dalmatians). This should give you some idea as to her behavior!

On the code of conduct for working with great white sharks we are not allowed to feed the great whites sharks which is something that we agree with completely and do our utmost at all times not to do. In fact we pride ourselves on how little bait we actually lose over a season, with most of it going to the steentjies (the small chub-like reef fish that come up to the boat). Shark Cage Diving

Now, Cruella is a different story…it is difficult to describe her exactly but without being aggressive she is deadly in her ability to get both the decoy and the bait from us. Most sharks cautiously have a look at the bait when first arriving at the boat and some might actively go for it on occasion after surveying the situation. Cruella is different and would appear from nowhere as an almost full breach on the bait. I usually take care of the decoy behind the boat and sit on the engine and I can tell you in one week I looked directly down that shark’s throat three times as she come flying up towards the bait!

It became so ridiculous that we would have to take both the decoy and the bait out of the water and on one trip we even picked up anchor and moved in the hopes that she would not follow us.

We sometimes come across very unique sharks in terms of personality and she sure is of one of those. Our guests absolutely loved seeing her and although we did as well sometimes it is better to just observe from a distance!

NATURAL PREDATIONS

There has not been a lot of seal movement and as such we have not seen a very intense amount of natural predations. There have been a number of busy days and some of these events have been very spectacular sights. Chris feels that from a photography point of view there are perhaps 10 exceptional photographic opportunities in a season. We had two events only a few days apart that he was able to capture. One of these exceptional images is of a great white shark breaching out of the water with its mouth wide open in incredible light and the seal still in frame. You can view these images on Photo’s of the Month. On both occasions the seal managed to evade capture and this was after a protracted chase on the surface. Shark Cage Diving

Lanzarote - You Just Can’t Help Returning

Posted on: September 22nd, 2008

Lanzarote resort is the most easterly island of the Canary Islands; it lies approximately 79 miles off the coast of Africa, and is the fourth largest island in the Canaries, it is 37 miles (60km) long and 12 (20km) wide.

Lanzarote as with all the Canary Islands are a favorite choice by many visitors year after year because of the weather, this also makes them a perfect year round destination. Holiday apartments in Lanzarote are in good supply depending on the time of year but some do get booked up year round.

It is due to the dry climate that most visitors come here and many come to see the landscape as it is quite unique. When you look at the volcanic landscape on the island you would presume it had only recently happened.

There is still plenty to do and see on the island, if you want to explore why not take your driving license and hire a car, that way you can explore the island at your own pace.

One of the longest Volcanic Tunnels in the world is the Atlantida. This is over 7km long and includes La Cueva De los Verdes and Jameos Del Agua. Well worth a visit while you are on holiday. There are also several beautiful white beaches to choose from many offering different water sports.

The many sporting activities on offer will mostly be connected to the sea, like surfing, swimming, fishing and diving but the island is also great for windsurfing enthusiasts. The best windsurfing conditions can be found at Costa Tequise.

Puerto Carmen offers diving schools or you can find deep sea fishing excursions, parasailing, Jet Ski’s and many more to suit all ages. If a water sport is not for you then why not try one of the local gyms that also include tennis and squash courts, or simply laze about on the beautiful beach.

Whilst holidaying on this laidback island many choose to come here year after year and many come looking for property in Lanzarote, maybe to buy or for an investment to rent out.

Lanzarote resorts have something on offer to suit every age whether you are sports mad on your holiday or just simply want to relax and, if you are thinking of purchasing a property in Lanzarote make sure to get a local estate agent or solicitor to help you, laws can be different than purchasing a property in England.

For example if there were a Lanzarote property for sale you were interested in, and there was any unpaid bills related to it then you would be legally bound to pay that bill, there are so many things to take into consideration and that is why you need a local estate agent or lawyer to explain all the legalities to you.

The same rules apply when purchasing any property in any country and that is to always make sure that all the legal work is done for by a professional.

Those of you who love going to a market while you are on holiday can visit the one in the old Capital of Tequise, which is on every Sunday morning from 8.30 and 2pm. Here you will find paintings, jewelry, local wines, hand-made-table-cloths, African wood carvings and of course the usual knick-knacks that many markets have.

Those who prefer can try local “paella” or “churros” while relaxing and watching the local Canarian dancers in the main square in front of the church. Don’t forget to haggle at the market. Many of the stallholders are used to this.
