For those looking for a Cottage in the New Forest, there are a huge variety of cottages to choose from and go to. Just pick the location of the New Forest you wish to rent in and then decide what appeals most to you. There are also a variety of cottages very close to the New Forest that might also be convenient. You don’t have to stay right in the forest to be able to visit it every day!
There’s plenty to see and do whilst staying in a New Forrest Cottage. Obviously, walking in the forest and there are horse riding opportunities about. Bournemouth, Poole and Southampton are very reachable for an escape to more built up areas, when the fresh air is getting too much!
The Beaulieu motor museum is worth a call. With a range of historic cars on show, there are a few attractions for the whole family to visit and keep entertained. The museum is set on the banks of the Beaulieu River, which is also home to the historic Buckler’s Hard. This site, now conserved as a museum, is where many period ships of the line were once built before being pulled down the coast to Portsmouth, for fitting out. A variety of ships were built and launched from these banks, including Nelson’s favourite ship, H.M.S. Agamemnon.
The New Forest Otter, Owl and Wildlife Conservation Park is set in 25 acres of ancient woodland in the New Forest. They are the home to Europe’s biggest collection of multi-specied otters, owls and other indigenous wildlife. They have been extremely worried with the status of the otter and the barn owl, both of which are endangered species. There is an ongoing breeding programme for all otters and owls in which captive bred stock is hoped to be released either to supplement falling numbers or to re-establish a population where they formerly thrived, but have now died out.
Longdown Activity Farm has five indoor and outdoor play areas and many of the activities are held inside, so you can visit whatever the weather. The play areas include trampolines, ball pools and even a BRIO play area - so something for everyone.
Located at the eastern edge of the New Forest and with a view over Southampton water, the Dibden Golf Centre is open to the public all year round. There are 2 golf courses to choose from: an eighteen-hole and a 9-hole plus a 20 bay floodlit driving range; a large well-stocked professional’s shop; and a spacious Club House with bar and catering facilities. For those without their own clubs or trolleys, the shop provides a hire service
Snowtrax is reputed to have the widest ski slope in the country. The slope is is open throughout the summer months because of its unique mist-lubricated surface. The Centre overlooks its own miniature lake and island.
