5 Principles of free Internet marketing
After spending money purchasing pay per click advertising to drive traffic to my domain, I have I switched to free (or almost free/low cost payments) marketing principles. I recommend using PPC to create instant Web traffic to your site as a backup plan, like in case a search engine changes its algorithm and drop your site ranking.
The 5 main principles of Internet marketing as I see them are: Site Optimization, Link Building, Article marketing, Email marketing and Viral marketing.
You do not need to have a site of your own in order to make money online, you can promote other people’s sites, as an affiliate and earn very nice commissions, but for the long run, it is better that you have your own sites and products, at list have your own blog (buy Domain & web hosting package, then install web version of WordPress).
Site Optimisation
When you add the relevant keywords entered in the Title, Headings, tags, and content of your site, you are optimizing your site for these keywords. These search engine optimization steps (SEO) affect the sites whether or not you are even aware of the concept of keyword density and how it can help to SEO a site. You will likely use certain words often depending on the type of products and services you offer just because it is natural and logical to do so. (But do not exaggerate) This tendency, however, can result in search engines boosting your site rankings for these particular keywords. The concept of SEO is much more complex than using keywords frequently (like first making a Keywords Research), but you can gain some benefit just by naturally applying relevant keywords to your site.
Link Building
This is one of the key factors to success - to get backlinks from relevant authority sites (like *.gov) or from relevant high Page Rank sites. Get links from Social Bookmarking Sites (Use Socialmarker.com to help you submit your URL). These links, when combined with the other Principles will drive masses of traffic to your site.
Do you participate in forums and comment on other people’s blog posts and include a link to your site in your signature? [spin]It is important to participate in industry related forums to create an interest in your products and services, establish yourself as knowledgeable about the industry and offer a link to your site. The link in your signature is a very valuable one way link. Link back to your site with main Keyword as anchor text.
E-mail Campaign
A way to create an email distribution list for your email marketing campaign is to ask interested potential customers to register with your site to receive additional information and periodic updates about your products and services as well as other information which might be of interest to them. This provides you with a list of email addresses from potential customers who have a genuine interest in your products and services and who are interested in learning more about these products and services.
Once you have a list of interested potential customers you can send emails or create e-newsletter for distribution to the members of your email list. Surely it is better when you know how to make a newsletter. These e-newsletter should contain a wealth of important information and a soft sell pitch for your products or services. This information will be examined by the readers and - if done properly - will increase your sales.
Writing Articles
Write articles. Link them back to your site using anchor text link in the author resource area. This link will generate free traffic to your site or your affiliate promoted sites. Submit the articles to article directories.
Viral Marketing
Create e-books and give them as a free gift. You can embed your affiliate links and your site’s url into these e-books. When readers e-mail your e-books to their friends, they will make your links spread virally for free. During time you will get more and more traffic to the sites you are promoting. You can offer your free e-book in your site or at the link in your article, as a gift to build your e mail list. You can also use this principle by making a special or funny video clip, put a link in or near the video clip, to the page you promote and upload your video clip into YouTube. This YouTube marketing is very popular today.
