Attempts to motivate them may come off as working, and temporarily they may get excited, but they will revert back to their normal state after you leave.Thinking positive is important, but not the entire answer. No one likes to be nagged, so just calling everyday or multiple times a day will not motivate them or inspire them to move forward quicker. They must be able to let go of their fears, because it is our fears and past experiences that cause our challenges of today.
